Dear Vultures and Parents
Dan and I handed out a letter to all the players who were at training last night.
Next Tuesday 21st December is the last training session we have booked and paid for at Croydon High.
Dan and I have decided not to carry on with training on a weekday evening in the New Year.
So – we won’t be asking you for any additional training money for next term and there won’t be any more Tuesday evening training for a while.
As I mentioned in an email a couple of weeks ago, due to a change in my work commitments I will find it very hard to make training on a weekday evening, and we’ve not managed to find any other volunteers to help Dan out.
We will however aim to have a 30 min warm-up/training session every Saturday before each match. And hopefully – in a few months once the evenings have got lighter and warmer again & my work issues hopefully have calmed down – we may be able to hold evening sessions back at Sanderstead Rec for those that are interested.
This means that:
• We will announce the captain for each match shortly before kick-off of each match.
• The captain will help Dan and I pick a man-of-the-match at the end of each game.
• We will continue to rotate the captaincy throughout the team – HOWEVER
• We will give the captains armband – and man-of-the-match awards – ONLY to those who work hard in the warm-ups, work hard for the team in the matches and who always follow the Selsdon Little Leagues code of conduct.
Here’s a reminder of what the code of conduct says:
When playing football I will:
• Always do my best, even if we’re losing or the other team is stronger.
• Play fairly, I wont cheat, complain or waste time
• Never be rude to my team mates, the other team, the referee, spectators or my coach/team manager
• Do what the referee tells me
• Shake hands with the referee and the other team at the end of the game.
• Listen to my coach/team manager and respect what he says
• Talk to someone I trust if I’m unhappy about anything in my team.
There is a match scheduled for this Saturday (18th Dec) at 10:30 – however the weather forecast looks even worse than it did last for last weekend – so I imagine it could easily get snowed off again!
Dan and I will text you as soon as we hear either way.
Hope to see you next Tuesday up at Croydon High – if the snow doesn’t show up again!
Mark & Dan
