Vultures 12 – 0 Warriors

What a game!

And what a way to finish the league season!

Well done to everyone who played, everyone who scored and to the defenders and goalies who kept a clean sheet.

Let’s hope we show our true colours in the 5-a-side tournament in May!

Vultures vs. Spartans – 26/02/2011

Vultures

Match is ON – against Spartans and Kick-Off is 10:30 – so please be there for 10:00 for a warm-up session.

Vultures 1 – 3 Demolition

Well that was a brilliant game and we were so unlucky to lose like that – but the Demolition were good with their set pieces…

We played the best football though – and created the best chances from open play.

We were really glad to have Andrew back in goal – and who knows – if he hadn’t have been captain he might have won MOTM too!

Ollie Rendall won it this week, with a hugely impressive performance at left-back – he kept the Demolitions best (well biggest) player out of the match most if the time.

Congratulations to Tom for scoring a really skilful goal – and to everyone else who played their part – we have played such good football this past 3 weeks and if we carry on playing this well we should win our games.

It’s Spartans at 10:30 KO next Saturday

Vultures 0 – 9 Nailers – 29th Jan 2011

Well – that was a hard – but really entertaining match. I cannot fault any of the 9 Vultures players who played yesterday, you all played as a team and played really well for each other.

We were up against the best team in the Selsdon division, and they had 1 more player on the pitch than us – but we could and should have had a couple of goals ourselves, and that would have been a fairer reflection of the game.

Hopefully we have a full team next week – when with a good result against the Predators, we can go back to the top of the league.

Vultures Training Sessions

Dear Vultures and Parents

Dan and I handed out a letter to all the players who were at training last night.

Next Tuesday 21st December is the last training session we have booked and paid for at Croydon High.

Dan and I have decided not to carry on with training on a weekday evening in the New Year.
So – we won’t be asking you for any additional training money for next term and there won’t be any more Tuesday evening training for a while.

As I mentioned in an email a couple of weeks ago, due to a change in my work commitments I will find it very hard to make training on a weekday evening, and we’ve not managed to find any other volunteers to help Dan out.

We will however aim to have a 30 min warm-up/training session every Saturday before each match. And hopefully – in a few months once the evenings have got lighter and warmer again & my work issues hopefully have calmed down – we may be able to hold evening sessions back at Sanderstead Rec for those that are interested.

This means that:

• We will announce the captain for each match shortly before kick-off of each match.
• The captain will help Dan and I pick a man-of-the-match at the end of each game.
• We will continue to rotate the captaincy throughout the team – HOWEVER
• We will give the captains armband – and man-of-the-match awards – ONLY to those who work hard in the warm-ups, work hard for the team in the matches and who always follow the Selsdon Little Leagues code of conduct.

Here’s a reminder of what the code of conduct says:

When playing football I will:
• Always do my best, even if we’re losing or the other team is stronger.
• Play fairly, I wont cheat, complain or waste time
• Never be rude to my team mates, the other team, the referee, spectators or my coach/team manager
• Do what the referee tells me
• Shake hands with the referee and the other team at the end of the game.
• Listen to my coach/team manager and respect what he says
• Talk to someone I trust if I’m unhappy about anything in my team.

There is a match scheduled for this Saturday (18th Dec) at 10:30 – however the weather forecast looks even worse than it did last for last weekend – so I imagine it could easily get snowed off again!

Dan and I will text you as soon as we hear either way.

Hope to see you next Tuesday up at Croydon High – if the snow doesn’t show up again!

No Footy this weekend

Football is cancelled tomorrow (Saturday 11th Dec) and forecast is not great for next week either!
